Sharieff's Project
Open Communication. Inquisitive Nature. Positive Outlook.
It isn't easy watching your child endure long term hospital care...
experiencing daily schedule changes, medication alterations, social disconnections, home readjustments and much more.

You need support. You deserve compassion.

That's why we created Sharieff's Project.

Making friends came easy to Sharieff.
Shenanigans with Mom!
Sharieff Hester passed away on December 28, 2021 at age 27 due to complications from COVID 19, but he had endured a lifetime of health and medical challenges and was frequently in and out of Boston Children's Hospital. Diagnosed at birth with Multiple Congenital Anomalies, including scoliosis and underdeveloped lungs, Sharieff spent most of his life requiring an oxygen tank during the day and ventilator at night to survive. He did not "grow up" like other kids, in fact his spine curved into a 90-degree angle which required a surgically implanted rod to repair. When the rod failed, Sharieff was placed in a full body cast and a medically-induced coma to allow him to heal properly. Ultimately, Sharieff never looked to be more than 10 or 11 years old, but he was wise beyond his years when it came to inspiring those around him. He will always be remembered as the "Mayor of 10 South."
